The Nano Stand – Ultra-Compact Full Size Mic Stand

The Nano Stand may be our most versatile ultra-compact mic stand. It can extend up to a tad over 7' feet high (2.16 m) but thanks to an ingenious reverse folding leg design, it collapses down to a mere 18.9 inches (48 cm) – compact enough to fit in a lot of carry-on bags – and weighs just 2.1 lbs (0.95 kg). The versatile leg design also allows adjusting its footprint size from relatively small to quite large. In tight spaces, such as between seating rows, it can stand in as little as 12-14 inches (~30 - 35 cm) of floor space but expands to a whopping 39.4 inch (100 cm) circular footprint for greater stability in more open spaces.
With legs fully extended it has a rated load capacity of 3.3 lbs (1.5 kg).* For lighter loads such as a microphone and wireless pack, the legs can safely be positioned at any extension that makes sense for your application. Some people might think we're nuts, but the truth is we didn't really start out to create the all-around nicest mic bag we've ever seen. It just sort of happened that way.
All we really wanted was a nice little zipper pouch to bundle with our adapter kits. We thought that sounded pretty simple. But after rejecting about a dozen pretty dismal (but not particularly inexpensive) options from several vendors, we finally concluded that if we wanted this done right, we were going to have to do it ourselves. So we set about designing a custom zipper pouch truly worthy of a top-of-the-line measurement microphone or any of the other small, hideously expensive widgetry that people in this line of work need to carry in their travels.
The result was the Rational Mic Bag, made of backpack-grade, water-resistant nylon canvas on the outside, with a padded lining and soft, durable nylon fabric on the inside. It can accommodate larger measurement mic's such as a full-sized Earthworks M30 or M30BX (we checked), swallow a USBPre with room to spare or gobble up our entire Adaptamania! audio adapter kit and still pack flat. Our mic bag is perfect for protecting, cameras, music players, DVRs, external hard drives, direct boxes... even microphones from the rigors of frequent travel. It also features thoughtful details like a sewn-in web loop for tethering and large, silk-screened handwriting area for labeling, so that you don't have to guess what's inside.
