Windows 7 Presonus Fireox drivers not working

New computer. I downloaded the PreSonus driver and installed it manually. I tried it several times. Usually, the installation fails. Sometimes it appears to install but then the driver doesn't show up. I have searched the PreSonus site and googled it. PreSonus tech support does not respond. I really need this working. I'm hoping you guys might have some idea what's up. Oh, I have a Syba Expresscard with Via chipset to replace the SIIG card I used on the old computer.

Is this Windows 7 64-bit or 32-bit? Also, can you send me the link to the installer you are using?

64 bit. Here is the Presonus driver page. It is the Firebox.

Well, it looks like most Syba cards are compatible with Presonus gear. And the driver you are using appears to be correct (I wish they had a release date on it so we knew how recent it is). When the installation fails, do you get a crash report or any kind of error?

The set up wizard in the last screen said "Setup failed to install device drivers. Please run set up again."

I think it might have to do with the folder it is attempting to install in. I get "installation failed" then "Created uninstaller : C\Windows\Temp\Presonus\Firebox\uninstall.exe"
"Output folder: C:\Windows\Presonus\Temp\Firebox"

When I browse to that folder there are some files there.

You should be able to change the destination directory at the beginning of the installation. Give that a try, maybe change it C:\Program Files\Presonus\Temp\Firebox

It is definitely possible that the OS is blocking the installer from writing to the Windows directory (typically not allowed)

I will try that. Yes I think there is some feature in Windows 7 that prevents files from being written to the program files folder.

OK. I did a system restore and started again. Got a little further this time. T installed the driver in C:\Program Files\Presonus\1394 Audiodriver_Firebox on its own. But then I still got and error message at the end. Also, When I unplugged and replugged the Firewire cable when instructed to by the install wizard I got this message "IDT PC Audio has stopped working."
