    Default StudioSix iRemote App?

FOH, being a trade mag of few words got my attention with this little blurb. It says it's a studiosix product, but they don't seem to have any info on it on their site either.

Anyone got this? Is it helpful at all? I use FFT to tune the monitors and then go up on stage with the iPad to touch it up with Stage Mix. I find myself sometimes pulling out the iPhone with a simple RTA to find certain frequencies. It would be nice to have the another iPad on the stool with this running- but there are all sorts of issues ranging from network traffic of stage mix to simply syncing a second iPad to iTunes.

It comes to doubling everything from iTunes accounts to adding a third network to my audio set-up for Smaart. I already have two- one for stage mix and one for itunes so i can remotely control program music.

Curious what people might be doing.

    Hi Kip,

Since it has been demonstrated at a few trade shows, I guess I can divulge some info as a beta tester of the software. There are still some features that still needs some work, some are missing. It's a really cool implementation of the API in Smaart where data from a measurement engine is transmitted to your iPhone or iPad via wifi.

It's proven really handy for me already. I usually have just my MacBook Pro with me, so I use parallels desktop to run whatever DSP control software I use, and on the OSX side I'm running Smaart with the API connection enabled over wifi, and leave Smaart running in the background. I have a Airport Express that acts as my wifi router, and connect both the laptop and iPad to it. So with my computer screen showing my DSP UI, I use the iPad to show my measurements. So now I have eliminated the need to lug around a second VGA monitor for my setups. Has come in handy adjust graphic eq's that are usually positioned in an odd place away from my laptop.

Essentially you can take any one measurement engine at a time in spectrum or transfer mode, select it, and display it on your iPad or iPhone. You can turn on/off the generator, turn on/off delay tracking, find delay times, see magnitude and phase, and adjust the averages of the measurement.

Work still needs to happen with various features, and a few features still need to be added, I have no idea when it will be released for general consumption yet.

    Hope this helps!

    Arthur

That's great! it's been mentioned a few times around the proverbial water cooler (FOH Mag, Sound Forums etc) and I could never find anything on it by either of the manufacturers that have a hand in it.

So it's going to be a stand alone app that doesn't require the purchase of any of the Studio6 modules? I heard a $99 stand alone price, but was unclear if you had to purchase the $20 Set and the additional Smaart Module. I understood it to be for existing v7 purchases with the $99 stand alone app.

    Hey Kip,
Can't comment on the iPad app, but will soon come with a lot of comments and feature requests for the monitor side of things. There are a few cool features that should be easy implemented, but will really improve user ability.
I use smaart remote controlled like Arthur (with a tablet not an iPad) and have good results. Over the weekend and next week i will concentrate on the monitor side of things among others using the vocal mic's as measurements mic etc.

I really have no idea on the money details, but in its present for I can confirm that it is a stand alone app. But in saying that, the folk at S6D may or may not wrap it into the AudioTools suite of apps, I really don't know what is planned. Nevertheless I find both the iRemote and AudioTools suite of apps to be absolutely invaluable in my work, so it doesn't matter to me where the app lives.

When my world stops spinning, I'll buckle down to check out the Parallels app on my iPad! Classic case of "too many apps, too little time!"

    Hi guys,

I can't speak on pricing right now, but the iRemote will certainly be a stand-alone app and will not require the purchase of any other app to run.

If all goes well, the app will be submitted to Apple sometime next month

    Hello friends!
Any news about the iPad remote application? I can't see any news at the Studio Six website.
    Best wishes to everybody!

I'm still not sure about the release date for the Studio Six Digital iRemote app. Make sure you are on SSD's mailing list and they will announce it there
