    Default Roland Octa-Capture

For the few Roland Octa-Capture users out there, can you please do a test for me? Feed an external pink noise generator into one of the inputs, route it internally to an output using one of the mix buses, and do a linear impulse response of the line output on the interface vs generator source and tell me what the polarity of the test signal is. If you have a studio 6 digital iAudiointerface, you can do the same polarity test of line output vs line input as well. Let me know what your operating system is as well. Before pointing any fingers, I want to make sure others are experiencing the same issue as I am, and it ain't pretty!

The OctaCapture lets you set polarity. So I gotta ask if you've checked those settings. I of course assume you have, but put it out there as part of the discussion anyway.

Oh yes. I double and triple checked those polarity settings! It's a peculiar problem in polarity, but don't want to draw any conclusions until someone else can confirm there's an issue. Went through the entire "test the tester" routine and that left me wondering what the heck is going on here! Will dig further when I get back in the office.

Ours is on the road, so won't be able to test with it till next week.

Arthur- I just send you a message via the soundforums page. Not sure if this would be related at all. Admittedly I just opened this thing a few hours ago and have not figured out the routing of inputs to outputs.

I hope that you're showing a major snafu since this thing is brand new!

    cheers.

Hi Kip, sent you a reply via soundforums.net but wasn't sure if you got it.

After two days of very thorough testing (and chasing a few polarity rabbits that bit me in the rear end), I can confidently say that the Octa Capture is functioning perfectly as it should. No issues at all, buy with confidence. More to come when I have a spare moment, maybe I'll come up with a setup guide and a method to test for polarity issues. Moral of the story: never assume!

I will test it tonight. I bought the octacapture a few days ago and just had time to load drivers and test it. It's a sweet preamp though.

Hello and sorry for the late follow up. I did what you (Arthur) suggested, and everything seems fine. I'm running Win 7 64 bits over boot camp on a MBP 2.3GHz intel Core i7, w/8 Gb of RAM.

Why I don't use it on Mac OS? because all control programs I have run on Windows (of particular interest for me, Harman's System Architect)

I'm extremely pleased with the Roland Unit so far.

    Regards,

    GS

    Sirs,

sorry my poor english. Maybe you can help me.

I have a MacBookPro with Mac OS10.6.8. Now I'm trying to use a Octa-Capture interface.

I installed the drive. In my PC this interface work well but not in Smaart.

Both interface and Smaart are in 48KHz sample rate. The Octa-Capture is in Audio Device Options of Smaart but this message apear all time:

Fail to start device. Please ensure the device is connected and that is supports the currente sample rate.

    Thanks.

I found the problem. I was the problem. In Audio Devices Options I selected Octa Capture. This is to ignore not to use. The right search will be unselected.

    Thank you.
