Default Pro Tools driver conflict with Smaart 6.1

After installing the Pro Tools LE 8.0.3 Windows update on my PC (XP pro service pack 3), I found that I could not open Smaart (version 6.1). The culprit turned out to be an ASIO driver named ElevenRackAsio.dll. Since I am not using or plan on using the Digidesign Eleven Rack now or in the foreseeable future I simply removed (uninstalled) the driver from the registry. After removal, Smaart will now startup and run simultaneously with Pro Tools as long as Pro Tools is started up first. If Smaart is already running and I try to open Pro Tools, the following message is displayed and Pro Tools closes. “Digidesign hardware is in use by another application. (-1133)”

I have yet to upgrade my Mac Pro Tools setup. When I do if the same problem occurs, I’ll post back.

AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ 3.01 GHz, 3.50 GB of RAM.

Default Pro Tools, M-Audio driver conflict Smaart 6.1

I'm having the same problem with the combination of digiasio.dll and mafwdasio.dll (M-Audio ProFile series interfaces).

BOTH dlls need to be in \Windows\System32 to hang Smaart.

The computer hangs at the splash screen, then I get a "Smaart has encountered a problem and needs to close."

I think I'm OK since Pro Tools M-Powered seems to run fine without the digiasio.dll.

Thanks for the original post. I had no idea where to start looking.

I had the same problem after installing Pro Tools LE V 7 or 8on a PC running Vista; both Smaart V7 and Waves MultiRack crashed on start up of either program. I uninstalled ProTools and the associated drivers and the problem cleared right up.
