granted that most people are using PC's- it might be good to have a dedicated forum thread for folks that are using other platforms. Or even better start a section dedicated to Platform with sub-folders that point to either PC, Mac or Linux with subsequent folders for the various software versions. It would make hunting down platform issues a bit quicker. it could all live under equipment. Otherwise, great layout with great info.

that being said- what is the difference between main and aux out in the Audio I/O other than they seems to point to Left and Right on the core audio sound card?

Is the correct setting for Main to be set to 1-1 and the Aux to be set to 1-2? It shouldn't matter in smaart I don't, but not real sure.

The Main and Aux outputs in the Audio I/O are just two outputs. The noise generated in SMAART is not stereo, so you don't need to think of the outputs as left and right. If you are using SMAART to generate your noise then you can us the Main output as what you use to drive the system you are measuring and then use the Aux output as the input to your reference signal.

You are correct in stating that it doesn't matter which is set for Main and which is Aux, but it is typical for it to be set as 1-1 for Main and 1-2 Aux.

Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking that more dual mono and not necessarily stereo. it just happens to be that one feeds the left and the other feeds the right. it's surprising even to myself that I have never used the onboard generator- I think the reason is that it wasn't offered in version 2 so I just went with an external source.
