Another important announcement from the Rational Acoustics Department of Shameless Self-Promotion:
Rational Acoustics is having an M-Audio Blow-out Sale!
Yup, we're getting ready to do a little retooling on our web store and as a first step, we've decided to clear out our entire stock of M-Audio mobile recording interfaces. We're blowing this stuff out at sale prices so stupid low, we actually can't even advertise them. But if you've been looking for a great deal on a new FastTrack Ultra (http://www.rationalacoustics.com/forums/../store/audio-i-o/m-audio-fast-track-ultra.html), FastTrack Pro (http://www.rationalacoustics.com/forums/../store/audio-i-o/m-audio-fast-track-pro.html), Firewire 410 (http://www.rationalacoustics.com/forums/../store/audio-i-o/m-audio-firewire-410.html) or MobilePre USB (http://www.rationalacoustics.com/forums/../store/audio-i-o/m-audio-mobilepre-usb.html), just drop by our web store, add any of the above items to your shopping cart, then check out your Grand Total on the "View Shopping Cart" page to see the discount.
In other Rational Store News:
We've added three really cool new products to our store – the Manfrotto Nano Stand, The Rational Mic Bag, and the long-awaited 7 Bad System Dwarves T-Shirt.
The Nano Stand (http://www.rationalacoustics.com/store/mic-stands-clamps/nano-mic-stand-kit.html) may now just be the single most versatile ultra-compact mic stand we sell. It can be extended up to a tad over 7' feet high (2.16 m) but an ingenious reverse folding leg design allows it to collapse down to a mere 18.9 inches (48 cm) – compact enough to fit into many carry-on bags (including mine) – and it weighs just 2.1 lbs (0.95 kg). Admit it, that's pretty cool. Of course we ship it (and all our other stands) with the thread adapter required to fit standard US style mic clips so it's ready to use right out of the box.
The 7 Bad System Dwarves T (http://www.rationalacoustics.com/store/goodies/7-bad-system-dwarves-t-shirt.html): Tubby, Muddy, Boxy, Honky, Barky, Edgy and Sibilant are the seven little gremlins who like nothing more than to give your sound system their own distinctive voice. In the interest of community service, your pals at Rational have unmasked them and stuck them on a t-shirt where you can get a good look at them. Think of it as the post office wall for system tuning offenders. A lot of people have been bugging us about this item so be sure to grab your before we run out of the XL and 2XL's. ;-)
The Rational Mic Bag (http://www.rationalacoustics.com/store/goodies/rational-mic-bag.html) may the kind of thing it's hard to get very excited about – until you happen to need one – but this is one seriously nice zipper pouch, if we do say so ourselves. And we do. And you would totally not believe what we had to go through to get them. But I'll try you.
When first we started looking for a zipper pouch to package with our adapter kits, we figured we'd just call up a couple of companies that make such things, have them send over some samples, we'd pick one and place an order. Easy, right? Wrong! Dude, if there's anyone out there making a such a thing as decent zipper bag that you can buy as an off-the-shelf item in reasonable quatities, at a decent price, we sure as heck never found them.
We looked at I don't know how many samples from 3 or 4 vendors that were very simply crap, and not even particularly inexpensive crap. After a couple of weeks of this, we finally threw in the towel and decided to spec one out as a custom job. Then we figured as long as we were going to all that trouble, we should really just do it up right. We did a little research and found that for only a little more than some of these guys were asking for some of the flimsier samples we saw, we could produce a custom bag that was actually worth that price.
So... we sat down and designed ourselves a bag that is water-resistant, tough enough to take the kind of punishment that the likes of you guys would put surely it through, cushy and soft enough inside to trust your best measurement mic to it's care, flexible enough to roll easily, and large enough to fit a full-size M30, a USBPre or a really mondo adapter collection into. To finish it off, we had a big white patch silk-screened onto it for labeling and added a trusty web loop to grab it by or hook onto with a carabiner.
Of course then, the first place we found that could make it for us burned to the ground on the day they were supposed to ship us our first sample for approval. You can't make this stuff up. But we persevered and found another place out in Utah that could do it for about the same money. They really did a nice job on it, too. As mic bags (or whatever you want to call it) go, it's pretty sweet. You should check it out. We made them just for you.
